Chiswick Today is an independent news and information site for Chiswick and the London Borough of Hounslow. We report from documents, we cite them, and we are not connected to the council.
Where we cover
Chiswick, Turnham Green, Grove Park and Gunnersbury at the eastern end; then Brentford, Syon, Isleworth and Osterley along the river; then Hounslow town, Heston, Cranford, Hanworth, Bedfont and Feltham to the west. The two ends of this borough are very different in what they need and what they cost, and we write about them as separate places while covering the one council that answers for both.
What we publish
Two things. Reporting taken from the public record, and reference pages for the questions people search in a hurry. The record here means Hounslow Council’s planning register and committee papers, licensing notices, police.uk crime data, HM Land Registry sold prices, Food Standards Agency hygiene ratings, Environment Agency flood warnings for the Thames, the Brent and the Crane, and company filings in The Gazette. The reference pages mean parking zones and permits, bins and council tax bands, checked against what the council itself publishes.
Our rules
Every fact is tied to a named source and linked, so you can read the original. Where a document is ambiguous we say so instead of picking the more interesting reading. Plain British English, no press releases printed as reporting, and no photographs taken from other outlets.
